DXO releases DXO Pure Raw 3

DXO releases DXO Pure Raw 3

DXO labs have released a new version of their noise reduction and raw preprocessing software, DXO PureRAW 3. Now in its third iteration, the software includes several new features and changes over the previous version.

Key features of the new release are as follows:

New User Interface

A new interface which is more in keeping with other DXO applications, and it also no longer goes to a bright white interface when your computer is set to dark mode.

DeepPRIME XD

PureRAW 3 Now supports the new version of DeepPRIME first introduced with Photo Lab 6. This additional XD mode allows the recovery of more detail while reducing noise. Key points of Deep Prime XD are:

  • Taking noise reduction and detail recovery to another level
    • Delivers more than the equivalent of an extra 2.5 stops of ISO
    • Support for Bayer and X-Trans sensors.

Queueing System

DXO Pure Raw 3 Interface

PureRAW 3 now supports more advanced queuing. This includes a new batch system that lets you prepare different batches with different settings. You can Start, Pause, Re-order and cancel batches, and you can continue working while the software is processing.

Improved Customisation

You can now customise even more options than with the previous version.

  • Customise Strength of Lens Softness Correction (4 levels)
  • Toggle On/Off Vignetting
  • Toggle On/Off Chromatic Aberration
  • Customise Lens Distortion Corrections (3 modes)

With previous versions of PureRAW, you could only turn lens softness correction on or off, but you can now choose from 4 different levels of sharpness. Additionally, you can specify how to manage lens corrections: whether to show the full image with black outside the corrected area, the maximum image rectangle, or the original crop ratio.

Now Supports Tiff

PureRAW 3 now supports tiff in addition to DNG and Jpeg. You can also choose whether to use compressed or uncompressed tiff files.

Price and Availability

The update is available now from the DXO website. The price for a new licence is €/$ 129 or £159. Upgrades are €/$79 or £69. There is also a 30-day trial version available on the DXO website.

This was pretty much just the announcement - I’ll try and have more of a hands on review soon. Just one other note - you may have noticed that this supports DeepPRIME XD for X-Trans files whereas Photo Lab didn’t - well, 6.4 which has also been released should now support Deep PRIME XD too.
