Random Acts of Photography: Streets of Dublin Edition
If you’ve been following this blog for a while now, you’ve probably already heard me going on about my “Streets of Dublin” project. It’s basically, a little photography project I started last year cataloguing life on the streets of Dublin. I found that I was taking a lot of pictures of Dublin and I wanted to showcase them, so I started a Tumblr blog and a Facebook page and began posting one or two pictures a day. It began to take off early this year and I have a few thousand people following on Facebook now, and it seems to resonating with people!
Another goal of the Streets of Dublin project is to show people a different view of Dublin city. A positive view of the city. A view as I see it through my lens. I like to take a familiar landmark, street or place in the capital and show it from a different perspective, or in a different light than people are used to. I like pointing out detail that is otherwise hidden in plain sight. I like showing the art in the mundane, and in that respect the city is full of artistic sights. Whether that’s the textures of the cobblestones, to the street art on the quays, to the beautiful bridges over the Liffey.
For this edition of “Random Acts” I thought I’d pick a selection of the more popular shots from the project. I generally try and take a variety of subjects, so not just people, but also, buildings, architecture and general cityscapes. Here’s a selection from the past 6 months. Enjoy!
