Street Photo Diary Issue 23: Christmas Edition
Christmas is nearly here, and I wanted to finish off the year with one more Street Photo diary post. I’ve enjoyed doing this series, and I hope to do more of it next year, but I thought a Christmas themed edition would be somewhat appropriate.
I had been taking some photos of the decorations around Dublin for my Streets of Dublin project, and I ended up with a ridiculous amount of photos. Some of these are perfect for the street photo series, and the biggest problem I had was trying to narrow things down. I could go on and on with some words of wisdom about Christmas spirit and and so on, but instead, I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.
There were a few interesting things that I did come across mind you. One was a flotilla of kayaking Santas that came rowing up the river as I was walking by. The other interesting thing is that the Plumb blossoms are blooming at the moment. It’s pretty unusual for these to blossom in December, as they normally don’t flower until February.
Cameras used in this series were a mixture as always. I had taken my old Canon 5D Mark 1 out for a spin and it never ceases to amaze me how good the pictures still are from that camera. It’s a pain to use by todays standards, as the screen is tiny, and the metering and autofocus are terrible compared to newer cameras, but the images still have something special about them. I actually prefer the look of files from the original 5d to the 5d Mark II which I also owned until I sold it last year. I also shot some of these with my Nikon D700 and my Fuji X-Pro 2.
