Amazing iPhone 6 Photo Gallery on Apple.com
Apple posted a gallery of images taken with an iPhone 6 from around the world on its website over the weekend. The selection of pictures is amazing. Even if you don't care about the iPhone or even that these were taken on a smartphone at all, the images are fantastic and a great source of inspiration.
Then again, it is damn impressive that these were taken on a phone. I know we're only seeing them at web resolution, but we've moved on from the filtered retro styling that was common in early iPhone photography to images that stand on their own as just images. Ok, I know many of these have been processed with various apps (many done with my own favourite VSCO Cam) but still, they're gorgeous photos.
According to Time.com, these will be featured as part of an Ad campaign by Apple:
Apple is turning the spotlight on its users in a new international ad campaign that will see photos taken “by real people” displayed on billboards across the world.
The switch in tactic—a first for a brand that traditionally favors product shots—will highlight the iPhone’s increasingly prevalent role in photography, both among amateurs and professionals, and is inspired by the popular use of the #iphoneonly hashtag on Instagram.
What's even more impressive about this is that the photos will be featured in the ads on Billboards, posters and so on, so we'll see how the images hold up when shown big.
But like I said earlier, forget that these were taken on an iPhone and just enjoy the great selection of photography from around the world.
