A Hijacked Domain: A Cautionary Tale for Photographers and Artists

I was chatting online with fellow Irish photographer David Cleland, and he told me of a rather unfortunate situation that has happened to him. I’ve been following David for a long time. He was one of the first people I knew who was embracing the Fujifilm ecosystem in the early days. He is actually a former Fujifilm X-Photographer, and you may know him through his website, FlixelPix. Unfortunately, through a series of unfortunate events, David has lost control of that domain, and now has a new website where you can find his work.

Apple Launches “Creator Studio”, A Subscription Bundle of its Creative Apps

Apple has just launched a new subscription bundle of creative applications for a pretty low price of $12.99 a month, or $129 a year. Called “Creator Studio”, the bundle includes Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Motion, Compressor, and Pixelmator Pro. Weirdly though, it also includes Pages, Keynote and Numbers, which are already free. The value of Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro combined would be about $600, so the subscription price is pretty good.

This is a story I’ve wanted to share for a while now, but I wanted to wait until the exhibit actually started. One of my photographs is part of a Museum exhibit in New York. Even just saying that sentence seems surreal. One of my street photos (above) from New York will be part of the “Street Food City” exhibit at the Museum of Food and Drink in Brooklyn.

New Lightroom Presets Coming Soon

I’m delighted to share some information about a project I’ve been working on for a little while. As long time readers might know, I used to have a selection of Lightroom presets available back when I ran my own download store. Since I closed that in favour of selling on Gumroad, I have only really kept my black and white presets, T-Pan available. I had wanted to bring some of my other presets back for sale again, but when I looked at them I realised that many of them were quite dated. I started by looking to see if I could bring some of these old presets up to date, but I ended up with an entirely new set!

Capture One for iPad Now Available

After several months of being in beta, Capture One for iPad is now available. The App, which you can get now from the App Store, offers a subset of Capture One for desktop’s functionality, so it is limited. However, it does use the full capture One Raw engine, so images processed on an iPad will be as good as those processed on a desktop.

Capture One Addresses Service Outage

Last week Capture One suffered a service outage that affected users of the companies software. The issue was caused by Capture One’s payment provider, Fast Spring, and it caused the software to temporarily stop working for some users. Needless to say, people affected by this weren’t happy. Luckily, Capture One seems to have realised the seriousness of this, and yesterday they addressed it in a Tweet on the companies official Twitter Account.
