My Photo Journal
While I do most of my posting on this blog, and it's pretty much the main port of call for visitors, the blog is actually not my main photography site. I actually have a main site, which acts as my portfolio an has details about my photography, my writing and so on, as well as contact information ad the like. It's my online business card so to speak. It also has a companion blog, which I often refer to as the "Photos Only" blog.
The official title for this is the "Photo Journal". I had neglected it for a while, but it's back to the top of my list of priorities, and I've been more active on it recently. It's basically for posts which are about the photography, and contain lots of images. I try to keep it as gear free as possible, and it doesn't contain any posts on software, or how to use equipment or such things. It'a all about the images, and is more for Photo essays and those kinds of posts.
Form now on, I'm going to start posting my Street Photo Diary posts on the Photo Journal too, as well as what ever other photography focused posts that I write. Don't worry though, I'll still post links to any major posts here so as to simplify things.
If you're wondering as to why I would want to have these on a separate blog, well the reasons are twofold. Firstly, the design of the Photo Journal is better suited to viewing images. It's nicely laid out, and clean, with no sidebar, and the images are nice and big. Secondly, some people prefer gear free posts, and this makes it easier for them to find those.
I've also been doing some more work on the main site too. I've added some new images to the entry slideshow, and I've changed the layout a bit on the main home page. It now contains more details of my services as well as links to my store products, and the latest images from the Photo Journal. I've also cleaned up the menus a bit. There are a few more tweaks that I want to do to it also, so it will probably keep changing for a little while.
In the mean time, head over to the site and check out the Photo Journal and the main portfolio site.
