Street Photo diary Issue 24 - New Year Edition
Welcome to the first edition of Street Photo Diary for 2017. Considering I’ve been doing about one of these a month that means I’ve been doing the Street Photo Diary series for about 2 years now. For the new year, I’m going to try and keep to that schedule, so here’s the first instalment, for January!
We’re already nearly a month into the new year now, and it’s been an interesting time for me photographically speaking. I’ve been looking to try some new and different subjects, but I still end up shooting street shots without really thinking about it. The winter light has made for some great opportunities, with the low sun casting long shadows on the surrounding streets. This lets you use the light as both a subject and a framing device for people.
The streets of Dublin were nice and quiet for January too. The city was pretty hectic leading up to Christmas, but in January the change was dramatic. The quieter streets makes it much easier to set up shots as there aren’t as many people in the way. I’ve also been trying to look for different types of shot too, shooting things like details and textures that I find interesting. (Well, probably not that different from my normal shots then.)
Gear wise, it was a combination of my usual suspects. The Nikon D700 and the Fuji X-Pro2 were the two main cameras that I was using, and there’s a few shots from the Sony A6000, and a few film shots in the set too.
