Capturing the Sunset over the Irish Sea
I happened to be in the right place at the right time the other day to capture an amazing sunset. While travelling back on the ferry from Holyhead to Dublin, the sea was calm and the sky was beautiful, and as we reached the middle of the journey the sun set on the horizon, in a beautiful display of reds and golds.
As the orb of the sun began to reach the horizon, a ship in the distance sailed passed and came just in front of the sun as it was touching the line of the distant sea. It was a beautiful sight, with the dramatic clouds, the beautiful colours and the calm gentle lapping of the sea.
The images were taken with my trusty Nikon D700 and 28-300mm lens. I was being buffeted about a bit by the sea breeze, so it was hard to keep the horizon straight. Still, I didn’t have to do too much to the images in post other than straightening them.
