New Video - Street Photo Diary: The Original Canon 5D Back in Action
Having repaired the detached mirror on my original Canon 5D I headed out onto the streets of Dublin city to do some street photography and test out the newly repaired camera.
This is my 9th episode of “Street Photo Diary” and I can’t believe that I’ve come so far with this series, especially as it was really rough at the start. I had been planning to do this episode on shooting film, but as I had just fixed my original Canon 5D, I thought that this would be a more appropriate topic.
Speaking of which, if you hadn’t seen what had happened to it, here’s the video explaining:
I ended up using super glue. Lots of people on forums and in the comments of my video said that superglue was a no no because of the fumes, but then I fond loads of other people who had used superglue without any problems. The way I saw it, I couldn’t get it professionally repaired, and it was effectively going to be junk anyway, so I might as well risk it.
I kept the lens cover off with no lens on for a good 24 hours in a well ventilated area to let the fumes dissipate, so if there is an issue, it hopefully will be minor, but to be honest, I don’t expect it. I have repaired it a while ago now, and there’s no sign of any issues.
