DXO Nik Collection 3 Just Released

DXO Nik Collection 3 Just Released

DXO has just released a major update for its Nik collection of software tools. The new version which is available now contains numerous upgrades, as well as an all new tool: Perspective EFX. Here are two of the key features:

(This info is taken from their website/press release)

> Non Destructive Workflow with Lightroom

How would you like to be able to edit and re-edit your Nik plugin settings without destroying or losing any of the edits you’ve already made with Adobe Lightroom Classic? This brilliant new non-destructive workflow is exclusive to Nik Collection 3. Export images as TIFF files from Adobe Lightroom Classic and tweak your plugin edits as many times as you like while keeping your original adjustments completely safe and totally reversible.

> Perspective Efex

Perspective Efex automatically corrects geometric flaws in your photos. Using either automatic corrections or reference lines, Perspective Efex can correct keystoning in urban and architectural photos, no matter how complex. It’s the quickest and easiest way to fix the most complex geometric distortions – including barrel, pincushion, and even fisheye distortion. Use Perspective Efex to instantly correct distorted figures and faces that often appear at the edges of group and wedding photos taken with wide-angle lenses. It’s the perfect plugin for creating natural-looking family and wedding photos with a more pleasing look!

There’s a cool one-click miniature effect in Perspective Efex. Its one of the few things I’ve played around with so far, but it’s really nice. There is a lovely quality to the blur it uses. I’ll have more details when I get to try more tools. Incidentally, they all seem to work in Capture One too.

This is just two of the key features, there’s more too, and you can find the full list of what’s new here on their website.

Funnily enough, I only bought the collection last week. I did so as part of a project. I had the old versions from back before google bought (and subsequently sold them). When I just saw the news I thought I was going to have to pay full upgrade price, but in fairness to the company, they gave me a free upgrade. I didn’t even have to contact them - it was there waiting for me when I logged in. Kudos to DXO for good customer service there.

Incidentally, I’m not affiliated with DXO in anyway. I paid for the collection entirely myself - as I want to both use them and use them in videos I have planned

Help Support the Blog

This blog is pretty much my day job now and I work to bring you my own take on photography, both tutorials and tips, as well as inspiration from my own art. Running all this isn’t cheap, and so If you like what you see and you want to help keep this all going, I support this work, and my YouTube channel entirely either via sales of my eBooks and Lightroom presets, or the kind support of my readers. (I also have some affiliate ads).
