Photo Software News for March
Here’s a quick round up of some of the recent happenings in the world of photography software. Capture One announced that Sony A1 Lossless compressed RAW support will be coming soon to Capture One, DXO software is having a sale on NIK plugins, and Photoshop and Lightroom received some recent updates.
Just as a quick side note, I’m a little late with some of these updates, as I have been swamped with client work for much of March, but I’m hoping that my schedule should be back to normal now, so regular programming can resume!
Lightroom Classic 10.2
I’m a little late on this, but Lightroom Classic was recently updated to version 10.2, and Lightroom desktop(cloud) was recently updated to 6.2 (see below). This release primarily focused on performance enhancements and bug fixes, along with the usual round of camera and lens support. Here’s some of the key features in Lightroom classic.
- Filmstrip and Grid scrolling for macOS: They’ve improved the performance when scrolling through images in the Library Loupe, Develop and Compare Views
- Less friction when scrolling through the library in grid view
- Batch editing improvements
- Tethered Live view for Nikon (beta)
- Support for new cameras and lenses
For more information, see this article on Adobe’s website.
Lightroom 6.2
The cloud version of Lightroom also includes several new features. These include:
- View Personalised Feed on Lightroom Desktop
- New profile support for Apple ProRaw images
- View combined notifications when people like or comment
- Easily mute a panel's settings
For full details see this post on Adobe’s website.
Photoshop 2021 v22.3
Adobe also recently released a new version of Photoshop, which I didn’t get around to talking about. Of the new features int his release, the two key features are the new “Super Resolution” option in Camera RAW and the fact that the software now supports Apple’s M1 chip (mostly). I’ll be covering both of these features in a future blog post, but for now, here’s the details on super resolution from the Adobe website.
Capture One Sony A1 Support
Capture One have announced that support for the Sony Alpha 1’s new lossless compression format will be coming in April. They’ve also announced that they will be adding a unique colour profile for the A1 too. In addition, the company recently published an article on how they profile cameras for the software, which is quite interesting.
Nik Software 30% off
I’m a little late on this one too, but DXO labs is offering 30% off its Nik software collection for the remainder of the month of March. This offer runs until March 28th.
