Adobe strikes again: buys Topaz Labs

The news that Adobe has agreed to acquire Topaz Labs has hit the creative community with a collective “what the f….”. For anyone who relies on tools like Gigapixel, Photo AI, and Video AI, I’m sure this news is a bit of a worrying development, especially if you’re one of those creators who had exited the Adobe ecosystem (”you fool … there is no escape!”).

Apple Launches “Creator Studio”, A Subscription Bundle of its Creative Apps

Apple has just launched a new subscription bundle of creative applications for a pretty low price of $12.99 a month, or $129 a year. Called “Creator Studio”, the bundle includes Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Motion, Compressor, and Pixelmator Pro. Weirdly though, it also includes Pages, Keynote and Numbers, which are already free. The value of Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro combined would be about $600, so the subscription price is pretty good.

One of my Photos is Part of a Museum Exhibit in New York

This is a story I’ve wanted to share for a while now, but I wanted to wait until the exhibit actually started. One of my photographs is part of a Museum exhibit in New York. Even just saying that sentence seems surreal. One of my street photos (above) from New York will be part of the “Street Food City” exhibit at the Museum of Food and Drink in Brooklyn.

Another Very Bloggy Update

I’ve been very busy this past week, and so once again I’ve been somewhat bad about posting on the blog. I have been buried in design work with a tight deadline and so unfortunately the tutorials and so on have had to take a back seat. DXO Celebrates 20th Anniversary - 20% off all DXO software for next 20 Days

French software company DXO Labs celebrating its 20th anniversary this month, and to commemorate it they are offering 20% off all of their software for the next 20 days. The company’s first product: DXO Optics Pro, the precursor to DXO Photo Lab launched this month 20 years ago in June 2004. Since then the company has added to its portfolio of photography software, including DXO Pure Raw, the NIK Collection and DXO Film Pack.

DXO Pure Raw 4 released

Today, DXO announced the release of the latest version of Pure RAW, the company’s RAW pre-processing software. Version 4 adds some welcome new features including a new version of Deep Prime, DXO’s noise reduction and demosaicing technology, improved lens softness correction, and new workflow improvements. One of the most requested new features is that you now have the ability to control the amount of noise reduction through new advanced settings options.

DXO Launches Photo Lab 7 and Film Pack 7

DXO labs has today announced the release of the latest version of its Flagship Photo Processing software, DXO Phot Lab 7. This new version includes new colour calibration tools, LUT support, a new workflow for black and white images and some revisions to the way local adjustments work. Also announced today is a new version of DXO Film Pack, DXO’s film emulation software.
