Photographing Autumn Textures
Autumn is by far my favourite time of year for taking photos, but sometimes I feel like I’ve done it all before. I’m always trying to do something different, to shake things up a bit, and so recently I had an idea. Instead of doing the usual and focus on the autumn colours, I would instead see if I could make some interesting images of autumn textures.
Aside from the beautiful colours, the fallen leaves and branches are also interesting from a textural point of view, and by shooting in black and white (or rather processing in black and white) I wanted to see if I could bring out those textural elements and create something a little different. Of course I did end up shooting some colour too, because some things just work better in colour, and colour can be part of texture too! Did it work? I'm not sure, but they were fun to shoot!
