Capture One (the company) has added a new post on its website about its vision for the future of its software (also Capture One). The company has outlined its path to creating a whole ecosystem for professional photographers. This starts with Capture One Pro on the desktop, and the recently released Capture One Live, and encompasses future plans which include Capture One on the iPad and eventually iPhone.

I think it’s safe to say that Capture One 22 is one of the companies most hyped releases of recent times. They have publicly touted the main features in advance and two of those features – “Panorama Stitching” and “HDR Merging” have probably been the two most requested features for Capture One for a long time. They are the two big features that Capture One lacks compared to Lightroom. So now that the software is released, are these features any good, and what else is new in Capture One 22?

Capture One has just announced the latest upgrade to Capture One 21. Version 14.4 is available now, and the biggest feature is that it brings back support for the Export tool tab.

Capture One today announced via their newsletter that two of the most requested features are coming in the next major release due in December. These are of course: Panorama and HDR merging.

"Should I switch to Capture One?" is a question I get asked a lot. It's also challenging to answer, because everyone is different, and everyone's needs are different. So in this post, instead of answering that question directly, I'm going to try and give you the information you need to make that decision yourself!

If you’re looking at getting Capture One, you may be confused by all of the different versions. There is Capture One Pro, Capture One Express, Capture One, Fuji, Sony and so on. On top of that, there are subscription options and perpetual licences. I get a lot of questions about some of these versions, and so, in this post, I will attempt to break down the differences and offer advice on which version you should get.

Just a quick note. I have updated my T-Pan and T-Neg product pages on my store to include a downloadable sample pack of the styles. Because it can be hard for people to judge whether the styles are for you or not, I wanted people to be able to try them out in a little way for each pack, and so the samples each contain one “film” for each of the styles (and the associated variations). With all of the announcements from Capture One yesterday, I missed a couple of points about Capture One for Nikon. In addition to the new Nikon pro version, there is also now a version of Capture One Express for Nikon. They have also added new colour profiles for selected Nikon Cameras.

Capture One has just announced a new version of the software specifically for Nikon users. Just like the versions available for Sony and Fujifilm users, the new Capture One Pro Nikon version will have all the features of the full version, but will be at a reduced price, and will only open Nikon RAW files. This release will also bring tailored profiles for selected Nikon cameras to Capture One.
