Panorama and HDR Merging coming to Capture One in December

Panorama and HDR Merging coming to Capture One in December

Capture One today announced via their newsletter that two of the most requested features are coming in the next major release due in December. These are of course: Panorama and HDR merging.

They haven’t provided much details as of yet, but you can find a discussion about it on their Facebook page and representatives from the company have been answering some questions one there. All we know so far is that the features are coming sometime in December, and based on what they’ve said in the discussions, it will be part of Capture One 22.

For as long as I’ve been covering Capture One, these have been the two most requested features. The lack of these is often cited as the main reasons people are reluctant to switch to Capture One, so hopefully this will address those concerns. I am curious to see how they implemented these features, and if this means that Capture One will support HDR file formats and bit depths. Unfortunately, I have no information on any of this right now.

Usually, each major version is a paid upgrade if you’re a perpetual licence holder, and as they're touting this as being in version 22, these features will require a paid upgrade (I assume). However, you will get the next version at no cost if you are on one of the subscription plans. Remember if you are interested in getting Capture One, you can use my code: TFPHOTO to get a 10% discount. (Given that there are only a few months to go until December, if you need it now, you might want to consider if its more value to you to get a subscription)
