Capture One Pro 9 Released
I had a nice little surprise waiting for me when I opened Capture One this morning. A dialog popped up letting me know that a major new version has been released, Capture Pro 9. It's available now, for the upgrade price of €99 if you're a Capture One 7 or 8 user. There are some big new features in this release, including a brand new processing engine. I've just upgraded my copy, and I'm going through it now. Once I've had a chance to play around I'll have a more detailed report, but in the mean time, here are some of the key new features (from their website)
- An extra activation: Every Capture One Pro 9 licence now comes with 3 activations instead of 2 - so you can activate the studio machine, location laptop and the back up laptop machine without the stress of shuffling activations.
- Re-designed Colour Editor Interface: A classic, reloaded. Easier interaction and Includes a new mask from colour selection feature.
- Local Adjustment Curves: Curves adjustments can now be applied in a local adjustment mask
- Luma Curves: The power of contrast curves without the over saturation. Luma curves are also available as a local adjustment.
- Contrast Engine: Revised for even better image quality, colour and contrast work in harmony to provide more natural transitions. Skin tones have never looked better
- Keyword and Libraries Tool: Organise, tag and find pictures easily with the new keywords feature.
- Rescaling Engine: The new down-sampling engine is designed to help those producing for web. Smaller images - higher quality.
That's just a few of the new major features that have been listed. There's also improved support for tethering and some brushing enhancements. There's a lot to take in and I want to explore the new features properly before commenting on them. For more details visit Phase One's website.
