Nordic Styles for Capture One - First Impressions Review
A few weeks ago Capture One launched a new style pack for the software of the same name, called “Nordic Styles”. Available in two packs, each with two styles in two variations, the stated aim of the styles is to “channel nordic light and beauty” and to “achieve elegant colour grading inspired by Scandinavian editorials.” I had a chance to try out both style packs, and in this post, is my first impressions.

Beyond Film Style Pack for Capture One - A Review for every day photography
I do love a good film simulation. That’s what I said to myself when I got to try out the “Beyond Film” style pack from Capture One. It’s actually surprisingly hard to find, especially for Capture One. There are the Mastin Labs films which I covered before, but I find that they’re quite overpowering. I’ve tried in the past to make my own film simulations, and they were ok. The problem is that, at the end of the day, simulating film isn’t necessarily what you want to do. You want to capture the essence of film, but without the drawbacks. And having tried these “beyond film” styles now, that’s what I feel they achieve.

Capture One has launched some new style packs inspired by film that they’re calling “Beyond Film”. There are two new collections, one colour and one black and white. The Colour pack, “Beyond Film” has four styles with three variations, while the black and white pack has five styles in three variations.

Just a quick update with some photo software related news. Specifically, there are some new styles out from Mastin Labs, and Capture One is having a deal on some of their styles in a limited edition bundle.
A Complete Guide to Styles and Presets in Capture One
At its simplest, Styles and Presets in Capture One may just seem like a variation of what would be Develop Module presets in Lightroom, but they offer a number of distinct advantages. Getting to know how to create, manage and work with styles and presets can be a significant workflow enhancement in Capture One, and so what follows is an extensive guide to one of the software’s key features.
My Capture One Style Packs Updated to Simplify Installation
I’ve released a minor update to two of my Capture One style packs in order to simplify the installation process. Previously they needed to be manually installed which was a bit of a chore, but now they can be installed simply by double clicking on a file.
T-Pan for Capture One: Black and White Style Pack now available
I’m happy to announce that my latest Style Pack for Capture One is now available to buy from my digital download store. T-Pan for Capture One is a set of Black and White styles inspired by black and white film. The look is aiming to re-create the experience of shooting with a professional grade black and white film stock, and creates a rich film like monochrome image.
Coming Soon: T-Pan for Capture One
I’m working on the long process of converting some of my most popular Lightroom presets over to Capture One, and with that in mind, I’ll soon be launching my next set of Style Packs: T-Neg for Capture One. This is based on the Lightroom pack of the same name, and it’s probably one of my two most popular sets. T-Pan is based on black and white film, and was created by using scanned film as a reference.
New Capture One Styles from Phase One

Some Free Capture One Styles. More Premium Styles Coming Soon
A while ago I posted a collection of some free styles for Capture One here on my blog, but I realise that they were buried a little in an old blog post, so I’ve put them over on my store to make them easier to find. There are a few different sets of styles in the collection, and they were mostly experiments and various looks that I had created, but I never really made into a consistent pack. I do have another set of premium styles coming soon, and I’ll talk more about that in a minute.
New Capture One “Editorial” Style Pack from Phase One
Phase One is taking an interesting approach to creating their own Styles withe their latest Style packs. For a start it is interesting that a first party manufacturer has seen the advantages of creating their own add ons - something that Adobe never did with Lightroom. But their new “Editorial” Styles Pack was created in collaboration with renowned photographers and retouchers.
Styles in Action: Creating Impact in Black and White with SilverLux and Capture One
One of the many things I like about Capture One, is the way you can create some really nice monochrome images with it. I’m not sure what it is about the software, but whatever is going on behind the scenes gives black and white images a really rich black look to them. It was this that caused me to create my first set of Capture One styles: Silver Lux.
Some Free Styles for Capture One
I’ve been building up a collection of Styles in Capture One for some time, and I originally had the intention of releasing hem as a styles pack, but I was never really happy with them as a complete pack. However, I’ve developed quite a few over the years, and they’re just sitting here on my computer, so I thought I’d share them anyway.
Introducing SilverLUX - Black and White Styles for Capture One
Capping off what seems to have become Capture One week here on the blog, I’m pleased to announce that my first set of Styles for Capture One is now available. Called “SilverLUX”, it’s a set of 25 Black and White Styles. The set also comes with 20 film grain presets. People have been asking me for a while to create some Capture One styles, and so I’m delighted to be finally able to release them.
A Sneak Peek at my upcoming Capture One Styles
For a while now people have been asking me if I was planning to make presets for Capture One. I have been putting it off because I wasn’t really confident in my abilities with the software. However, I’ve been using it a lot more lately, and I’ve reached the point where I’m happy with the looks that I’m creating. So I’m nearly ready to release my first set of “styles” to use the Capture One terminology. They’ll be a black and white set and I’m calling them SilverLux.
