Capture One 21 Dehaze Troubleshooting Tips

When Capture One 21 was released with the long-awaited Dehaze tool, I was a little disappointed with the results. However, having worked with it for a while now, I’ve come up with a few tips and suggestions for getting around the shortcomings of the feature. I still hope they improve it in future versions, but for now, here are some workarounds.

Luminar AI Review

I’ve been writing reviews for over ten years. I’ve covered all sorts of things from hardware, to software, and I’ve never had as hard a time writing a review as I have with Luminar AI. Since the application came out just before Christmas, I’ve seen many reviews and coverage extolling its virtues, but this wasn’t matching my experience with it. I wondered what I was doing wrong because it seemed like I was reading about a completely different application.

If you’re like me, you’re probably sick of all the emails and posts about Black Friday deals at this point. So, I’m only going to do this once, and I’ll keep it quick! As I’m on the affiliate programmes of a few different software applications, and they’re offering deals for our readers, I’m passing them on for those looking to get a bargain of software.

DXO Photo Lab 4’s Deep Prime Noise Reduction is kind of nuts

I've been trying to get some time to do a proper full review of DXO Photo Lab 4 but I’ve been really busy with client projects and some other things, so I haven’t had the time to fully immerse myself in the software yet. However, I have played around with the new “Deep Prime” noise reduction, and I’m impressed with what I’ve seen so far.

Exposure X6 Released

Exposure is one of those applications that I’ve been interested in, and I’ve played around with quite a bit, but it hasn’t really made it into my daily workflow. I keep coming back to it though, as it offers some unique features, and it also does some nice RAW conversions. Well, Exposure Software (the company) has just launched the latest version of the software, Exposure X6.

Making Something From Nothing: Fixing a Dull Photo & Why I use Different Tools

I finally managed to get out of our local virus induce containment this past weekend. We went for a walk by the sea, and while I brought my camera with me, I hadn’t really intended to take photos, so when I did, it was more of an off the cuff snapshot, than an intentional photo shoot. At first glance, the photos I took were pretty “throw away”, but after some playing around I managed to create a pretty good (in my opinion) image from something that started off as a dull and boring shot.

How to use Nik Plug-ins (Silver Efex Pro, Colour Efex Pro, Viveza etc) Non-Destructively in Capture One

When DXO announced the latest update to the Nik Collection suite of plug-ins last week, one of the key features is that it now offers a non-destructive workflow when working with Lightroom. When you edit an image in one of the suite’s plug-ins from Lightroom using a Tiff, you can re-edit the image later and have all of your settings loaded on the original image. Well, I’m happy to report that this feature also works with Capture One. Here’s what to do…

Raw Power 3.0

Gentlemen coders recently released Raw Power Version 3.0. I've been interested in this application for a while, and I've been following its development. Raw Power is a Raw editing application that lets you take advantage of the capabilities of Apple's RAW engine, that is otherwise unavailable to the user. It's not perfect by any means, but with each release, they've added more and more capabilities. Version 3 adds a fascinating new ability if you're running it on Catalina, and if you're an Apple Photos user looking to get more power out of your RAW files, then this might be a solution for you. Read on to find out more.

Quick Note - Adobe offering 2 Months Free for Current Creative Cloud Members

I was trying to write the title for this post and make it not sound like a spam ad, which is what I thought when I first saw this, but its true. Adobe is offering two months off for creative cloud subscribers to help creatives deal with the current global situation. I read about this on a tweet, and I thought it was a joke or a scam, but it was from a reliable source, and I tried it and it works (at least it did a few days ago).
