I’m on Patreon
I’m happy to announce that I’ve just launched a Patreon Membership Page. For a while now, people have been asking me for a way to support the site and the things that I do, and while I’ve had a great response to the eBooks and Presets that I publish, they’re not for everyone. aWith that in mind, I wanted to create a way for anyone who wants to support my photography writing, and the research that I do, in a reasonable way. I love working on my photography site and I love the community of readers that has grown up around it. I give away lots of information and publish things pretty cheaply, but running the site and store cost money. I had looked at different membership methods, and various ways I could offer a members only section of my website, but in the end I decided to go with Patreon, as it had most of the tools that I was looking for, already set up to work the way I wanted.
So what is it exactly? Well, basically, it’s a membership option, where I will be posting additional members only content. It will be everything from behind the scenes for what I do, to special links and downloads for members only, to members only videos and so on.
The goal of this membership is to help grow and develop the site. I want it to be a great place to go for other photographers, and the membership is basically crowdfunding with perks. By offering a membership option, I hope to be able to achieve a number of things:
- Continue doing what I’m doing, and you know, eat.
- Rent equipment in order to do reviews and tutorials.
- Shoot more videos which require time and extra help.
- Provide more content for consumers, without going out of business.
- Eventually hire extra writers to provide even more content
For those that don’t want to sign up, don’t worry, I’m not going to start limiting things to members only, and I’m not going to stop writing on my regular site, or stop making eBooks and presets. Instead, this is a way to ensure that I can continue to do that. Membership is in three tiers, and each tier has different perks. They start at a very low $2 a month, up to $10 a month which is pretty reasonable, and for that, not only will you get additional content, but you will also help me continue to grow this site and do even more work on things like Fuji Processing, or Raw editors. I also want to be able to do more equipment reviews and so on.
So if you’re interested stop on by and sign up. You can cancel at any time, but your help will ensure that I can keep my photography sites going and growing.
