Video: Editing a Fuji Raw file in Luminar via X-Transformer

Video: Editing a Fuji Raw file in Luminar via X-Transformer

I’ve mentioned before about how much of a fan I am of Macphun’s Luminar, but that I prefer using as a plug-in rather than with raw files. However, there is one exception to that, and that is when I use it with DNGs created by Iridient X-Transformer. In that case the results are actually really great, so I made a little video to demonstrate.

So, in this video I look at editing a Fuji RAW file from an X-Pro 2 in Luminar after first converting it in Iridient X-Transformer to a DNG. I also give a brief explanation of why I feel the need to take this extra step of converting the file first. I also give some commentary on how I like the way Luminar encourages me to experiment.

Here is the final finished image from the video. It's not the best image in the world or anything, and could probably do with cropping to a panoramic aspect ratio, but I wanted to use it to demonstrate the technique. Could I have created the same result in Lightroom alone? Probably, but I enjoyed the process of experimentation, and sometimes that’s why I use certain tools (I touch on this concept in the video too).
