Video: Stitching Panoramas with Capture One and Affinity Photo

I’ve had quite a few requests lately for tips on how to use Affinity Photo with Capture One for merging panoramas, and so I created a quick tutorial to show you my workflow for merging Panoramas using these two applications.

Just a few other notes about panoramas and Capture One. This is of course just one way of working, and I created this in response to specific requests. There is an applescript in Capture One (the Mac version) to merge images with Photoshop, but in my experience this is really flakey. If you want to use Photoshop rather than Affinity, then you would be better doing it manually, using the techniques I outlined for Affinity Photo.

It should also be noted that if you use (or have used) Lightroom to merge a panorama, the DNG this creates this will also be read by Capture One without any major issues.

I know there will be the inevitable complaints that Capture One doesn’t support Panoramas natively, but that’s not the point of this post or video. The goal of this is to show solutions for those who use Capture One and want a way to make Panoramas.

Try or Buy Capture One

If you don’t already have Capture One, you can download a 30 day trial now from the company’s website. If you do go to buy it, Capture One Pro is available in both subscription and perpetual licences available, in versions for all cameras, Fuji specific or Sony specific. The Fuji and Sony versions only open raw files from cameras of the respective manufacturers, but other than that, they are identical to the full version. There is also a cut down “express” version for Sony and Fuji Shooters, but this has limited features compared to the full “Pro” version.
