Some Free Lightroom Presets to Download & Happy Christmas

Some Free Lightroom Presets to Download & Happy Christmas

This will probably be my last day blogging before Christmas, so I wanted to finish off by giving something back. As I had been working on various projects throughout the year, I have been creating and experimenting with various Lightroom presets, and I ended up with quite a collection. I had originally offered these to Patreon members, but as I’ve shut down my Patreon channel for now, I didn’t want them to go to waste, and so you can download them here.

Most of these were experiments, and different settings and tests that I found interesting. A lot were created around Autumn, and so they are not so imaginatively named for Autumn, but they can be used for anything. As with all presets, some of these might only be useful for some types of images, and may be completely unsuitable for others, but have a play around and see what you might find useful.

Most of them are named with a fairly self explanatory name, and I’m not going to go into detail on all of them, but there are two sets in this that bear some further explanation.

The first is “Alpine 2”. This was a work in progress for what would be a successor too my previous “alpine” set of presets (not currently available I’m afraid, but will be back next year). They were designed with Nature and Landscape type images in mind, but they are a work in progress and so consider them as such.

The second one that bears mention is Film tester. This was an experiment in creating a sort of universal film simulation preset. I was trying to mimic the way negative film works, as much as one can with the abilities of Lightroom. When you apply these you should be able to control the effect with the exposure adjustment. Again, play around and see how you get on.

Ok, just a few obvious disclaimers: These are being supplied as-is. There is no technical support available for these as they’re free, but if you have trouble leave a comment and I'll see what I can do.

Also, even though they are free, they’re still copyright, so please don’t go posting the preset files elsewhere. By all means share the link to this page, but don’t post or share the individual preset files or downloads.

They require a current version of Lightroom and will work with Lightroom Classic, Lightroom Cloud and Camera Raw (but they need to be installed through Lightroom Classic to show up in Camera RAW) To install, go to the develop module and choose the option to import presets. Just select the whole zip file and it should import all of the preset groups.

One other note, some of these may have colour profiles embedded in them, and so may appear greyed out depending on your camera. They will still be usable though, so just ignore it if they’re showing up as partially compatible.

You can download the presets by clicking on the button below:

One last thing. I just wanted to say thanks for all the continued support and readership throughout this difficult year. It’s been a challenge for many people throughout the year, and so I want to send all of you my best wishes. I hope you all safe and well and for those who celebrate, Happy Christmas, and to everyone a Happy New Year (I’ll probably have a few posts between Christmas and New Year though).
